I'm so sorry. I know how disappointed you must be since you described how much you wished to let go of medication for the benefit of her weight-gain :-( Poor little girl!
Oh sweet friend. I came to find different news today. I am so sorry. Gosh, I can't imagine. My hopes were so high, so I have no idea how a mama must feel. Sending lots of love and hugs and prayer your way.
Sorry to hear that Charissa, but we love her anyway and i'm sure with her being in your family she will have a long and happy life. The research for HIV has come so far, and little Zoya will bloom because of it! Keep you head up :)
So sorry to hear that it was positive. It is so sad that our children have to fight so hard in life.
My DD has been home 2 years and we've struggled with very similar eating/vomiting issues. It has left our whole family's lives less joyful and brought me to depression which I've never had before. We've dealt with a gigantic list of medical and behavioral issues with our two adopted children and the feeding issue is without a doubt the most difficult and life consuming. I wish I could help more but maybe just knowing there is someone else who knows your pain.
I appreciate your continued updates on the issue. It helps more than you realize for those with similar struggles.
Go to Walmart and pick up the "plus" generic brand of ensure. It is 350 calories so you can feed less volume for more calories. It is probably cheaper than pediasure.
I echo what KT said! While, ideally, not the best news-- it is encouraging that her levels are so very, very low for two tests to come up negative and to create such doubt among doctors! I just hope the medication doesnt have a direct impact on her weight. :(
I am so sorry that the test results came back positive, as it would have been wonderful to stop the medication and see if she could escape the nausea and weight issues. Know that you have countless people praying for you and for Lera. The one blessing is that her viral load is so low that it is virtually undetectable which is an accomplishment of dedicated medical care and parental care.
It still amazes me that such a tiny little girl with so many challenges, has such a huge joyful spirit though. I so enjoy seeing that bright smile when we come through the door.
This makes 3 kids so far I have found adopted from eastern Europe with this issue. I believe there is a mutated strain harder to detect. I did some research and actually there was a mutated strain in one country.
Not the news anyone wants to hear, but it explains some of Z's issues. I know you had accepted that is was a possibility, so though you're sad, perhaps this will give everyone involved in her health care some new treatments to try. Regardless, she is a Treasure! Praying for Z and the rest of your family. Love ~ jo
Too bad it wasn't different news. but I know you know how to care for it by now. Even happier that she is with your family so her needs are meet with love and care!
I just got caught up on your blog, sorry I haven't been keeping up. I am so sorry that Zoya is having all of these difficulties. I pray that peace would surround you and your family, I pray for wisdom for the doctors, and I pray for favor with your insurance company. ((Hugs))
I know you are crazy busy. Even though you haven't posted, I have been thinking about you often. Just thought I'd let you know I was thinking of you, and praying for you, today. Blessings!
Hi Charissa, I know that you called while we have been in Kenya. I'm sorry. I'm going out of town tomorrow, so tried to email you, b/c Emily W. told me you have some questions about surgery, but it came back undeliverable. If you will email me, I will get back with you and/or I will be back in the office the 28th. Give Zoya hugs and kissed for me! :) Nurse Emily, ACH

ReplyDeleteSo sorry :-( The fact that two came up negative must be encouraging that her levels are very low! Maybe?
