I have ALWAYS wanted my own calf. Seriously. But not a cow. Did you know in Haiti or Dominican Republic or someplace around there- I don't remember which country!- they have 'miniature cows'?? I think we need to buy the lot behind us from my parents and get a miniature cow for the kids, don't you??

Looks like fun! I don't think I could eat it- are you going to breed the cows and get a milk cow?

There are miniature herefords here in the states. We want one, but owning livestock is contrary to our homeowners association rules.

A friend of mine had cattle as a child, and she would put mascara on their beautiful lashes. All the cow needs now is a bow and a bell. Treat it tenderly and you will have very tender steak.

That last picture of Hope is absolutely beautiful!!!
Was that taken with a new camera?;)

Amy and Bethany, YES, it was taken with my new camera! It is a Canon Rebel and I have lots to learn about it!

I love Dalene's comment about the tender steak. Although, you may have a hard time convincing the children that you want hamburger and steak instead of a pet.

Congrats on the camera. I have a canon, too. I really enjoy it. Still learning about mine, too.

Hi Charissa!
Nah - don't eat the chickens! Just eat the eggs! :) That's what we do!
As for the adorable cow... he won't be for much longer! It is a bit easier as the cow gets bigger and then when the "deed" is done - it takes a few weeks for the cow to come back in white paper!
I had a hard time with our piggies last year - but got over it fast after the first ham! I would never make a good vegan!
Enjoy the baby time - its great experience for the kids!
Take care!

Love the picture of Hope and the calf. I know how to kill and pluck a chicken. Tom and I learned in Goodland, Kansas. It isn't very pleasant either.

And what the heck does Hope think she is doing? Growing up so fast.
