Wrapping up the summer

Last week I had a surprise visit from Teri. Remember Teri? She and her sister Kim stayed with us for about 9 months when they were little girls age 7 and 9 and when John and I were foster parents....long before any of our kids were born. Wow, a lot has happened since then. We are so thankful that our relationship did not end when the girls went back home but they have continued to call and pop in occasionally. Thanks Teri for the visit! Love you and your beautiful girls!
Sweet Acacia and Trinity....

Jude wanted to go roller skating for his birthday. Since John has been working so much lately we finally got around to celebrating a couple of weeks late. Does the idea of taking our bunch roller skating sound exhausting?

Well it was. But it was a lot of fun.

The birthday boy....
Why does my camera keep making a dark shadow on the right side of the picture? Why??? Can anyone tell me? It is really bugging me.

This is one of the many things I love about my husband. He always keeps his promises. I wonder if we are the only family in America that sets up their swimming pool a week before Labor Day?

Don't rush the end of summer quite yet! Still another 3 weeks on my calendar :) Love the pics on the roller rink in strollers!

I haven't been roller skating in YEARS! I didn't think roller rinks even existed anymore. How fun!

As for the shadow on the camera, my bet would be the way you are holding in and your hand is in the way of the flash. When you turn it sideways for a "portrait" photo (ie vertical), then make sure your hand is holding the lens from the underside, not the side or the top. Is that making sense? I had this same thing happen to me many times until I realized my hand that was holding the lens was blocking the flash.

The kids looked like they had a good time skating! I'm glad i got to visit with you for a few before you left. I'm glad John got the pool up, the pic of Joseph in the air is priceless! He is in his element :)

I remember going to the roller rink for parties with my mom's group homes. There were some good skaters in that bunch! Was either Ava or Joseph a natural? :)

Lacia could be right, it could be your hand with the flash. It's not as likely with your camera though because of the flashes position. I think it could also be your shutter is sticking and not opening completely. That has happened to me.

WOW! I smiled the whole way through this update. Looking at you with Teri and her girls. Soaking up the photos of the kids skating. Joseph being the cutest little boy in his little boy clothes. Zoya looks like a natural! Seeing John push the strollers. How funny! The joy on the older kids's faces. I LOVED (!) the picture you caught of Joseph being thrown into the pool. He had to be screaming with joy. Flying with his arms out. What a life for him. So perfect. I love "visiting" your family. It always blesses me.

Zoya and Joseph have gone to Heaven -- she got to wear the ultimate shoes and he got the ultimate "hose"!

If it's a point and shoot camera, your hand may be covering the flash. If it as SLR or a PnS, your flash and your shutter may not be in sync.
Super cute pictures anyway!
