The house

It has been over 4 years since we made a trip to Mexico to visit my parents. They always seem to be in a different house every time we go, depending on how the Lord provides for them. I have seen my mother for many years, washing cloth diapers over a wash pan, hanging clothes on the line to dry, sweeping dirt floors, and washing dishes by hand. Each time we have come to visit they are living in a different house depending on how the Lord provides, and some provisions have been nicer than others.

This time I felt like I was staying in a Better Homes and Gardens dream home. The story is this. Its owner, a widow, has moved in with family. This furnished house is much too big for her but she doesn't know yet whether to sell it or save it for her grandchildren. In the meantime, she is thrilled to let my parents live in it rent free just so someone is there to keep it up. It has 4 bedrooms, 5 baths, a TV loft, a game room, a fusbol table and pool table, and 2 fireplaces. What a unique provision for my parents and all their guests and mission teams that frequent the place. If you have always wanted to go on a mission trip but didn't think you could rough it, this is the place for you!

See what I mean? Better Homes and Gardens? Well, except for my kid's flip flops messing up the photo shoot.

The backyard on the golf course. During the week there are no players so the kids and dogs had free reign to play soccer

This table cloth is the one I brought back from Ukraine. I loved this little table decorating the back porch, and of course the little boys in the background.

My mom put fresh flowers all over the house for a team from Belgium that came last week. They lasted long enough for us to enjoy them too. I'd like to think that deep down inside, I too, possess this gift of hospitality and eye for decorating that I am just too busy with my children to really live it out. I'd like to think that someday I will knit too, just like my mother. We shall see, we shall see.

The upstairs loft has a giant "bed" big which was big enough for our whole family to enjoy Indiana Jones and, of course, The Three Amigos.

The backyard had a wonderful swingset. My modest daughter wouldn't be caught dead with her midriff showing.

This creek running through the backyard provided hours of entertainment.

And these are the "watchdogs" Layla and Fifi

It was a dream come true having you all here! We enjoyed every minute! We didn't get the jello cookies made! Just hours after you left we are hosting three children for 5 days while their parents are at a retreat trying to get their marriage back together. So glad you didn't mention my maid who comes 3 days a week and cleans up after us all. Please don't let anyone know I pay her equivalent of 10 dollars a day which is better than she would get anywhere else in town. That should be kept a secret.
