Little miracles

These photos represent so many miracles to me (not least of which, the fact they were taken indoors, at dusk, on manual setting with no flash....just had to throw that in there).

Anyone who has been reading this blog long enough will surely remember this girl's aversion to touch, her inability to hold an object, her inability to even sit up by herself, hold eye contact. And don't forget my fears that she would never show emotion, love and affection, and that I possibly might not be able to love an adopted child with so many delays as much as "my own".

Not only do these pictures represent so many obstacles that have been overcome, look at what else they show. TRUE love. The most heartfelt affection. The sheer joy of being a "mommy".

Learned from none other than....ME.

(And I just want to point out now how cute I think the two little bald heads look together.)

Oh, my heart.

God is good! When you've walked through the days of no connection, it makes it all the sweeter to see the true child come out, doesn't it? Wow, what a transformation. She is such a blessing. Thanks for sharing.

I know how you feel it is so amazing to see your child do something in the same manor that you do it. All that more amazing when they have the hurdles that Ava has had to jump over. She is so cute and I love that she is looking so healthy and can only wait for the next miricle to join your family.

Don't we all have this potential inside of each of us? And only when Someone comes along side us, picks us up, gives us His all, can we respond in like manner to Him as well as to others. This child has taught us all so many lessons and reflections. Cant wait to see her response to Yellow Dress!! Please have the camera ready!!

i just met a little guy in the clinic who reminds me of your ava - his adoptive mom's biggest concern is that she has missed their opportunity to be connected, for him to know love - i should send her your way. rachel

What an amazing little girl she is. I adore her smile. Just perfect. You are so lucky in so many ways Charissa! She is loving her baby doll like she has been loved. These changes in her show how much you have done for this little angel. <3

Good for you, regarding the manuel setting! : ) Did you use a tri-pod or were they hand-held? Inside shots are SO hard.

(It looks like I'm the only one who understand the feat of using the manuel setting! Haha.)
