Charissa- Have you looked around your community to see if they offer a special gymnastics class for SN kiddos? In some communities, there are gyms that offer this to help teach them the correct ways to use their bodies... I know that she is not quite ready for that - but I thought I would throw that out to ya! You have to admit - even though it looks painful - its darn cute! Take care!
Gotta agree, Little Miss Pretzel sure is cute! But getting those limbs properly aligned is a worthy long-term goal as well. Is Ava presently receiving PT? If so, I wonder what her therapist's take on this might be?? I recall how gently determined, and closely observant her therapist was when Ava first came home...just what Ava needed to get her going! (that platform swing looked like so much fun, too...)
We call that "the taco" over in our house! Darah also does "the seal" where she is laying on her stomach and gets in a yoga seal position in her sleep. We found out that Darah's sleep apnea was the culprit for her funky sleep positions.

OH DEAR JESUS!!!!!!!! That's gotta hurt!?!?!?!?!
I first looked at this and thought, "what happened to that kid?!" Then I looked a little closer and chuckled.
that looks just like how I used to sleep.
Ouch is right on that one. It'd be nice to be able to, but it sure looks painful!
OUch is right! How funny!
We call that position "The Clock"! It looks like it would hurt, but I guess when you have low tone...
Still, you could sign her up as one of those very flexible acrobats!
I think you may have a future ballerina...or gymnast. She certainly is flexible :)!
Sheer pain is the thought that comes to mind right about now.

Oh wow! That's exactly how I sleep! Just kidding! I'm lucky to be able to touch my toes!
What...on...earth. I wish I had that kind of flexibility!
