Does it bother you?

It makes me sick to my stomach to know individuals and companies are making money off of merchandise like this.....

And this...

Does it bother you too?

This does bother me...ALOT! I think that the problem is lack of understanding by most people. I wish that we could come up with a more respectable word to use. Unfortunately, I don't think that we will ever be able to take away the negativity that this word carries...even if masses of people become more sensitive to it. I really like that video that I believe ARC put out that should be playing in WalMarts either this month of when the Tropic Thunder movie comes out talking about the only R word that should be used is RESPECT! :D Love all your photos and Ava is beautiful!

I can't believe anyone would put those things on their child, let alone buy them.

That does make me sick. Who in their right mind would buy that for their child, let alone put it on them?!

The bib is disgusting. I hear my friends use the word "retard" in public and I cringe and ask them not to use it. They don't think it's a big deal, but I guess until you know someone who really does have a disorder that the public would consider to be "slow", it doesn't affect them. I'll never forget when my uncle came to visit and some people at the table started making "short bus" jokes. His daughter Sam is deaf and has some other problems rode the "short bus" for years.
I really wish people would THINK about what they say before they do say it.

The TRUE ignorance is demonstrated by those who would exploit the innocent to make a buck.

Those are awful. I can't believe that anyone would a. buy those things, b. make those things, c. promote the sale of such things. So wrong!!!

99% of the kids who know Ethan and Luka are so sweet and warm to them-all wanting hugs and kisses every day when they have to say good-bye at daycare and giving them a warm welcome at school. I know it's because of the example set by the parents and teachers. Only the small percentages would purchase such a thing for their child and yes, it bothers me so much that I am just at a loss for words on who would think this is humerous. I believe, it's those parents who, more often than not, have children that grow up to be hateful people and then they wonder what happened to make them the way they are. What company would sell this filth? I certainly wouldn't purchase a single thing from them.

Makes me down right sick to my stomach! It's amazing how many ignorant people there must be to even ALLOW that to be produced! You would think someone along the way would have said something! It's a sad statement as to what some in our society consider as funny.

Can you tell us who made these disgusting things? I'd like to write the owner - thanks.

This seriously breaks my heart. Is there really that big of a lull in humor that people have to go this far? It's NOT even remotely funny, more like horrible. Shame on them!

My parents and family have been huge supporters of ARC here in our city for years even before my little brother was born. Justin participates in their programs so we are able to take part in a small portion of the DS population. They are remarkable souls, gifts to us to learn from, NOT the other way around. It is us who are lacking, not them. I am thankful for our own gentle spirit in my brother Justin. I just feel bad for those who will never get to experience what I have because of their fears. Too bad for them I guess.

Oh, and yes, this does bother me.

It bothers me greatly. Thankfully I have never seen anyone wearing them- only trying to sell them. Unfortunately people don't spend alot of time thinking and it shows in some very bad judgment.

All I can think to say is, what parent would ever buy a bib like that for any baby?

Hatefulness in any way, shape, or form bothers me. People love to do things for shock value too, so I suppose we will never get past it, but we can rise above it.
